More than 20 years after its maiden voyage, the Hyundai Tucson remains one of the most popular compact crossover SUVs. As Hyundai’s best-selling model in the United States, it’s a standard-bearer for an affordable, high-tech adventure vehicle—and it’s fresh off a 2025 model year facelift to give drivers more of what they want and need. As the leading Hyundai dealer near Barrington, Pride Hyundai of Seekonk has the latest Hyundai Tucsons ready for you to drive anywhere.

Which Tucson should you buy, though? With five trim levels for the 2025 Tucson, there is no shortage of options. Though they’re built on the same foundation, these vehicles have different target audiences and are designed for different types of adventures and different car-buying budgets. Our 2025 Hyundai Tucson trim guide will help you decide which should be your pick, from the streets of downtown Barrington to venturing across Rhode Island.

Hyundai Tucson SE

As the base trim, the Tucson SE is for shoppers who are on a budget but still want a solid ride. It’s powered by a 2.5L inline four-cylinder engine that makes 187 hp and 178 lb-ft of torque, which is plenty to hustle down Highway 114 or open things up in I-195. It’s mated to a SHIFTRONIC eight-speed automatic transmission that can be operated like a manual. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard, with the option to get HTRAC all-wheel drive (AWD), which will give you some needed traction in rainy Northeast summers and snowy winters. Fuel mileage is an EPA-estimated 28 MPG combined in FWD or 26 MPG combined in AWD.

Once you get on the road, you can choose from four drive modes—Normal, Sport, Snow, and My Drive—that adjust the shift points and more for a unique experience. Trailer pre-wiring is included, and the Tucson can tow up to 2,000 lbs, which is ideal for a motorcycle, small boat, or pop-up camper. The AWD version has 1.2 inches more ground clearance than the FWD Tucson, for a total of 8.3 inches, making it even more off-road friendly.

Other highlights of the Tucson SE include all-LED front lights, a spacious 41.3 inches of rear legroom, and up to 80.3 cu.ft. of cargo space. It’s also one of the most tech-savvy entry-level crossovers on the market. The Tucson SE has a 12.3-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth hands-free calls, HD and SiriusXM satellite radio, USB ports in both rows, and live software updates as you drive. You also get nine Hyundai SmartSense driver assistance features, including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, and Smart Cruise Control.

Hyundai Tucson SEL

While the SE is already a well-equipped SUV, the 2025 Tucson SEL turns things up a notch. The powertrain and suspension options are identical, but it wears larger 18-inch alloy wheels. This boosts handling while making a stylish statement as you cruise through Barrington. Another exterior addition is heated side mirrors, so they’re not covered with ice as you try to get to work on frigid January mornings.

Inside the Tucson SEL, the driver’s seat gets a major upgrade with standard heating, power lumbar support, and eight-way power adjustment (versus the six-way manual seat in the SE). The SEL also has dual-zone automatic climate control with rear A/C vents, so everyone is cozy. Take advantage of the wireless device quick-charging pad so your smartphone always has a full battery. Finally, both front windows have automatic up/down functionality, and the SEL includes Hyundai Digital Key 2, so you can use your phone to lock, unlock, and even start the vehicle.

Hyundai Tucson SEL Convenience

For the next step up in tech and sophistication, the Tucson SEL Convenience is your compact SUV, adding a host of features inside and out. This Hyundai switches the tail lights from halogen to LED, so every light on the vehicle now uses this bright, efficient technology. LED turn signal indicators are added to the side mirrors to make you even more visible. Want to enjoy a warm summer day in Barrington? Open the power sunroof and let the rays shine in.

When you open the door, you’ll find a luxurious leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, premium H-Tex upholstery, and increased interior lighting. The auto-dimming rearview mirror improves your sight out the back, and you’ll see every bit of info with a 12.3-inch digital gauge display replacing the 4.2-inch display on the SE and SEL. Speaking of info, the Tucson SEL Convenience comes with an onboard navigation system plus Hyundai Pay to prepay for parking. It has Hyundai Dynamic Voice Recognition as well, letting you do everything from changing radio stations to asking about your favorite sports teams. Safety-conscious drivers will love four more features added to the SmartSense suite: Forward Attention Warning, Highway Driving Assist 1, Navigation-Based Smart Cruise Control, and Advanced Rear Occupant Alert.

Hyundai Tucson XRT

With the Tucson XRT, things officially take a turn for the trail-ready. The previously optional tow hitch to haul your toys and equipment becomes a standard accessory, so you’re ready for a day with your boat on Barrington River or to take your camper out on the weekend. The XRT also receives black outer side cladding to protect against damage from road debris, branches, or curious wildlife. Bridge-style roof rails give you more ways to secure cargo. Hyundai turns up the fashion on the Tucson XRT as well, giving it an exclusive wheel design, a liftgate badge, gloss black pillars and side mirrors, a dark chrome grille, XRT seat debossing, and a black headliner.

Mechanically and tech-wise, the XRT is closer to the SEL than the SEL Convenience. It keeps the all-LED lighting but loses several key SEL Convenience features, including the sunroof, larger gauge display, navigation system, voice recognition, and added SmartSense tools. The starting price tag is the same as the SEL Convenience, so if you’re willing to trade these non-essential but still-useful items for the off-road and styling add-ons, the XRT is your bet.

Hyundai Tucson Limited

The name is a bit ironic because there’s nothing limited about this top-of-the-line compact SUV. It has all the best Tucson characteristics we’ve already mentioned, plus several more. To start, it has the largest wheels of any Tucson, upgrading to 19-inch wheels. You get projector-type LED headlights for maximum brightness and the inclusion of a panoramic sunroof to see everything above you. The front side windows have sound-deadening lamination for an even quieter ride, keeping out the noises of a Rhode Island rush hour.

Drivers and passengers will be even more comfortable in the Tucson Limited. The front seats are ventilated, the rear seats and steering wheel are heated, and the front passenger seat has the same eight-way adjustments as the driver. In addition to all the SEL Convenience tech, you get a 12-inch head-up display (HUD), rain-sensing windshield wipers, a Blind-Spot View Monitor camera system, a trio of parking assistance tools, and a fingerprint scanner to start the engine or program the infotainment center. An integrated memory system can recall settings for the driver’s seat, HUD, and side mirrors, accommodating multiple pilots with ease.
